This is a preview of some upcoming work for the FFIX zine that I’m putting together. It’s seriously like my favorite scene from this game thus far, when Zidane tries to comfort Vivi by suggesting that they take a leak together off a wall. Super funny and genuine moment and it captures his sort of fun, immature, spontaneity that makes Zidane a likable character—here, I obviously exaggerate him a bit :) And no, the colors aren’t final, but I can’t give everything away online!

this later post summarizes my feelings:

Why do you care? Honestly, her praying to God and doing whatever, and believing in a loving being somewhere taking care of her daughter, why are you so determined to try and point out flaws? It’s not hurting you, or her. In fact, it helps her cope with the loss of her child, who died at such a young age. She justifies it by saying that it’s okay, there’s a plan, it’ll be okay, and she is happier and safer. She’s not doing it for the sake of being delusional or so she can stick it to some atheist, she’s doing it to find comfort in one of the most cruel situations a parent can find themselves in.

But no, someone has to come along and burst the bubble. Someone has to come in on a shining white stallion suited with a shield of impenetrable logic to try and tell her to her face all this negative shit for no reason other than to shove a view down someone’s throat.

I usually think of people like this as being many steps below a typical religious person, because sure, religious people can push their faith, or evangelize, but generally they do it for a positive outcome, spreading joy or optimism for people who may fear what comes after death, or to find meaning in life.

Meanwhile, the same calibre of person who does not subscribe to such an ideology comes in to remind us all that we will die and rot in the ground, and her dead daughter is dead forever and her ‘god’ killed her and all this useless talking.

Let her have her beliefs, if someone is believing in something on their own, and they aren’t using that belief to ruin lives, or crush spirits, leave it alone. And I say this especially for situations like this, where a mother is trying to come to terms with why the light of her life was suddenly taken from her after a long, painful struggle with cancer. Quit being that person. There is no good in that.

I may as well add a disclaimer that I’m not even remotely referring to the religious nutters. I don’t care about them or even consider them genuine. I’m talking about mothers like this, who want to find some meaning in life, and cope with situations that are just plain unfair

I just want to give my two cents on this and tell you a story.

A couple weeks ago, I was hired at Target. I have a job at Target. Not a big deal right?

It is a big deal because i’m a transman.

It doesn’t take a genius to conclude that it’s hard for me, my brothers, and sisters to get a job. There are legal restraints regarding the job and if you don’t pass, it’s hard to be taken seriously at a job interview.

Right on the application, it asks what your preferred name is. It also asks if there is anything that target should know. I put the fact that I am a transman, expecting not to get a call because usually when you put that down, people will throw out the application. I got TWO interviews.

At the interview, they asked me about it. I told them I am on hormones and they told me that they didn’t care. Not in the sense that they don’t emotionally care, but that it didn’t matter. I was male and that’s all that mattered. They also told me that they give sex same couples benefits in states that do not recognize them as a married couple.

At my job orientation, I was not misgendered once. Even my supervisors who weren’t sure of my gender avoided pronoun use, which I found only happens when you’ve had pronoun training. They gave me a name tag with my preferred name and didn’t ask questions. I felt safe and respected, which is huge for a trans* person.

TLDR: Target is amazing not just for the LGB, but also the T. Shop there for the rest of your life.

to say that they’ve stolen things is stupid, it’s not like they hide that they’ve sampled songs. the album was called discovery for a reason, sampled and remixed songs that they discovered as kids. daft punk gave credit where it was due. you could argue they didn’t do enough with the cola bottle baby sample but that’s a different thing entirely than saying they simply stole it
